Blood Stem Cell Transplant

Blood stem cell transplants are among the most effective treatments for certain hematologic and lymphatic cancers.

The transplant team at Baylor Scott & White Health specializes in autologous blood stem cell transplants for adults.

We collect bone marrow stem cells from patients’ blood before the cells can be destroyed by cancer treatment. The patients can then get their own stem cells back after treatment. This is called a "rescue" transplant and results in restoring the lost bone marrow function.

Our program is accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT), an internationally recognized body that sets standards for stem cell therapy. Baylor Scott & White has the only FACT-accredited stem cell transplant program in Central Texas.

Conditions We Treat

Autologous blood stem cell transplantation is a therapy for patients with the blood-borne cancers multiple myeloma, which attacks bone marrow, and lymphoma, which attacks the lymphatic system. For multiple myeloma patients, stem cell transplantation can extend life and improve its quality. For lymphoma patients, it can be a cure.
