Diagnostic Radiology Sub-Internship Elective

Our elective provides rich radiology experiences to prepare students for their first year as a radiology resident.

Baylor Scott & White Health offers a four-week elective in diagnostic radiology to fourth-year medical students. Baylor University Medical Center Dallas, part of Baylor Scott & White Health, serves as a clinical training and research campus for Texas A&M Health Science Center (HSC) College of Medicine.

We accept three students per rotation.

Curriculum

During this elective, students work much like a first-year resident.

Students train on PACS and dictation system, review cases with attending and progress to the level of dictating simpler cases after attending review

We require students to prepare a three to five minute presentation on one recently published ACR Case in Point and one original imaging case to present before noon conferences.

Students attend morning and noon resident conferences and complete an entire textbook on the basic practicals needed for internship regarding chest X-rays, abdomen X-rays and some neuro/MSK imaging.
