Simulation/Standardized Patient Program

Our program is designed to provide medical professionals the opportunity to train in a safe, controlled and realistic atmosphere with non-judgmental feedback.

The Standardized Patient Program manages all standardized patient participants in educational, research and/or assessment activities for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple and Baylor College of Medicine - Temple

Standardized patients (SP) are individuals who have been coached to consistently and accurately portray an actual medical condition or disease, including a patient's history, physical findings, personality and/or behavior.

Standardized patients are utilized in training activities for medical students, residents, nurses and allied health professionals.

Potential uses of standardized patients for learning experiences include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervised practice and training
  • Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs)
  • Demonstrations
  • Hybrid simulations with low and high-fidelity manikins
  • Remediation training
  • Training videos
