Clinical Simulation

Our Mission is to promote, enhance, and develop medical education by replicating realistic clinical experiences in a safe setting thru best practices and innovation.

The Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Temple Clinical Simulation program, in conjunction with Baylor College of Medicine, provides education and training to medical students and health care professionals in Central Texas.

Our program uses high and low fidelity mannequins and patient actors to provide learners a risk free environment in which to practice and learn various procedures and methods.We support in situ mock codes, task trainer based skill building, communication training using simulated patients, and formative team training along with the capability to create novel simulation experiences.

The Clinical Simulation Center at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple boasts a total of 3,714 square feet of learning space.

The Surgical Skills Lab houses multiple stations outfitted with surgical training equipment, tools, and supplies and provides space for instruction and debriefing. Gross anatomy teaching lab provides hands on training and education in surgical techniques. It provides real life-like experiences where medical professionals and students can advance their understanding of human anatomy and physiology. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Temple

We are happy to provide the professionals at Baylor Scott & White and the students of Baylor College of Medicine with a large-format Low Force Stereolithography (LFS)™ 3D Printer as a resource to support medical education and research. To request a consultation, please fill out our event request form and specify your interest in 3D printing.

Our mobile simulation lab is used to assess and train health care providers onsite at regional hospitals and clinics.

The mobile unit allows providers and staff the opportunity to perform simulation scenarios on manikins in a familiar and safe environment — their own hospital or clinic.

The mobile unit has an array of high fidelity simulators and standardized patients to portray realistic scenarios. Our mobile team is equipped to assess and offer simulation training on many scenarios including but not limited to:

Adult Rescuscitation utilizing ACLS protocols
Pediatric Resuscitation utilizing PALS protocols
Neonatal Resuscitation utilizing NRP protocols
High-risk Obstetrics
Acute Trauma (Adult and Pediatric)
Mass Casualty (Adult and Pediatric)
Difficult Airway Management (Adult and Pediatric)
Malignant Hyperthermia
Team training with emphasis on communication skills (Team STEPPS)

Standardized Patient Program

The Standardized Patient Program manages all standardized patient participants in educational, research and/or assessment activities for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Temple and Baylor College of Medicine - Temple.

Standardized patients are individuals who have been coached to consistently and accurately portray an actual medical condition or disease, including a patient's history, physical findings, personality and/or behavior.

Standardized patients are utilized in training activities for medical students, residents, nurses and allied health professionals.
