Emergency Medicine Clerkship

Core Clerkship in Emergency Medicine

The Core Clerkship in emergency medicine gives students the opportunity to work alongside Emergency Department residents and faculty.

The Core Clerkship in emergency medicine gives students the opportunity to work alongside emergency department residents and faculty. Our goal is to offer an immersive EM experience with a diverse patient population and pathology. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple is a Level 1 trauma center that treats approximately 75,000 patients per year. Students also will work at our McLane Children’s Hospital with motivated EM trained faculty and pediatric emergency medicine trained faculty. At both locations, students will evaluate and manage patients under faculty and resident supervision.

We offer a curriculum of engaging didactic sessions, ultrasound teaching, simulation, critical care and trauma sessions. Students will also do multiple shifts to get the most exposure and experience in emergency care. Simulation day is high yield and specifically addresses resuscitation of critically ill patients. Students will also get to attend and participate in emergency medicine conferences.

Underrepresented Minority Scholarship for Visiting Students

We are committed to diversity and inclusion in all facets of emergency medicine. We are excited to offer a scholarship opportunity to students who identify as members of minority groups or face a significant socioeconomic challenge. We hope this scholarship can help offset the cost of doing an away EM rotation at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Temple. Get more information on the scholarship and details on how to apply.
