Texas A&M HSC COM and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Temple are hosting our 15th Annual Department of Surgery Research Day on Friday, May 17, 2019, at the Medical Education Center in Conference Rooms 110 and 111.

The co-chairs of the forum are J. Scott Thomas, MD, Program Director of Surgery, Marcin Czerwinski, MD, Director of Research.

The Forum is open to all Surgery Fellows, Residents, and Texas A&M medical students

Accreditation and Credit Designation

Accreditation

The A. Webb Roberts Center for Continuing Medical Education of Baylor Scott & White Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation

The A. Webb Roberts Center for Continuing Medical Education of Baylor Scott & White Health designates this live activity for a maximum of 3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Abstract Submission

The Department of Surgery at Baylor Scott & White – Central Texas is pleased to present the 14th Annual Department of Surgery Research Day to be held Friday, May 17, 2019 in Temple.

Fellows, residents and medical students are encouraged to submit work relating to basic science, clinical and educational research projects with a focus on trainees' research. The top abstracts will be selected to present at the podium during the research day.

Abstract length should be between 250-300 words. All submissions must be submitted through this form in order to be considered.


The deadline for submission is April 08, 2019, by 11:59 p.m.

Presentation Guidelines

  • Fellow and resident oral presentations should be less than seven minutes.
  • Medical student presentations are limited to three minutes. 
  • Strict time limits will be observed to keep the sessions running on time. 
  • There will be three minutes allowed for discussion or questions for a total of 10 minutes per presentation.
  • Fellows, residents or medical students are to be the presenters of the work.

  • Abstracts not accepted for oral presentation may be presented as a poster.
  • Poster-only abstracts are also encouraged and will be accepted based on merit and number of submissions.
  • Authors should be available for poster rounds and questions during the poster session.
  • Electronic Posters will need to be sent via email to Nicole Liles or Stacy Brister by May 11, 2019.

***If you have presented research at a local, regional, national or international meeting in the past year (poster or oral presentation), and it was supported by the Department of Surgery, it is expected that you will submit that for the Department of Surgery’s Research Day.
