Designed to facilitate earlier identification of trauma injuries, timely and appropriate initiation of trauma activations and decreased treatment delays due to inaccurate assessment and identification of patient acuity.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Identify resources needed to manage the needs of trauma victims in a disaster with or without a functioning hospital
  • Identify indications and outcomes of ED thoractomy
  • Identify and manage victims of child abuse by recognizing signs of abuse
  • Define a plan of action for potential active shooters scenario
  • List steps to control major bleeding and tourniquet application
  • Analyze rationale and results of damange control resuscitation
  • Identify indications for fluid resuscitation in trauma, including appropriate types and quantities and the rationale for their uses
  • Recognize advanced airway management techniques for trauma patients
  • Define the role of and appopriate injuries for interventional radiology in trauma
