State of the Heart: Updates in Heart Failure and Cardiology

Surgical and medical advancements in cardiac care today offer more options for patients than ever before. This CME event, featuring prominent cardiovascular health providers, is uniquely designed in 20-minute increments to provide primary care and specialist physicians a comprehensive update on topics important for optimum heart care.

At the conclusion of this program, the participants should be able to:
  • Identify and discuss the optimal timing in referring advanced heart failure patients
  • Discuss medical and surgical options available to patients with end-stage heart disease and the role of ECMO in the management of acute shock
  • Discuss new options in evaluating patients with syncope
  • Describe the evaluation of patients with atrial fibrillation and the treatment options, including the use of newer oral anticoagulant agents
  • Recognize and explain the progression of structural valve disease and various therapeutic options
  • Describe the risk assessment of patients referred for TAVR
