Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Symposium

Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) Symposium

March 28, 2020

The Westin Dallas Downtown • Dallas, Texas

Program Objectives

This CME event led by the Advanced Lung Disease Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care seeks to fulfill the need of patients, caregivers, practicing pulmonologists, primary care physicians, advanced-practice providers, and allied health care practitioners in the academic and community settings to achieve an accurate diagnosis and implement a comprehensive treatment plan for patients with interstitial lung disease. This will be unique in that it not only will educate medical providers but also seeks to bridge a gap between patient and medical provider.

The goal of the symposium is to improve the delivery of early appropriate and comprehensive care to the patient with interstitial lung disease and enabling the patient and caregiver to become proactive in their management. The conference will be geared primarily to providers in the morning and both patients and providers in the afternoon.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, attendees should be able to:

  • List critical findings in the history and physical exam specific to interstitial lung disease (ILD) patients
  • Identify and describe testing indicated for different populations of ILD patients independent of symptoms
  • Recognize the role of stem cell therapies in ILD and their limitations
  • Review new indications for the use of anti-fibrotic therapy in appropriate patients and develop comprehensive multidisciplinary management strategies
  • Assess the role of radiologic imaging in the diagnosis of ILD and its limitations
  • Identify the role of Mental Health in ILD
  • Identify and demonstrate how to provide non-pharmacologic treatments to provide for ILD patients at their first clinic visit
  • Recognize, interpret and treat/magnate co morbidities most commonly associated in patients with ILD
