Acute and Chronic Pain Management and Opioid Prescribing for Outpatients

Texas law requires Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Pharmacists to complete specific continuing education on pain management and opioid prescribing for licensure renewal.

The Baylor Scott & White Health Acute and Chronic Pain Management and Opioid Prescribing for Outpatients course covers evidence-based multimodal, multidisciplinary pain management.  Topics include pain neurophysiology and chronification, non-opioid and nonpharmacologic pain management, cognitive behavioral therapy, opioid risk assessment, opioid use disorder, opioid and benzodiazepine tapering, and specialty care for pain.  A segment on “difficult conversations” shows examples of introducing new treatment plans.
